First Attempt and Resit

You have had extenuating circumstances approved for assessment(s) with a status of ‘First Attempt’ and can now sit these as if for the first time at the next available opportunity. Please note, if you are already repeating the assessment(s), the modules will be capped at the module pass mark. Please refer to the course handbook for module pass mark.

You will also be required to resit the assessment(s) with a status of ‘Resit’ during the resit period.

Please be advised that the following points will apply to your resit assessment(s) and module(s):

  • You will not be able to attain a mark higher than the overall module pass mark in any module where you are re-sitting an assessment. Your actual assessment mark will be recorded and the overall module will be capped at the module pass mark. Please refer to course handbook for module pass mark.

  • If the mark you achieve at resit is lower than what you achieved at your first attempt, the resit mark will still be recorded.

  • If you fail to attempt your resit assessment a mark of “0” will be recorded.

  • The 5 working day late submission rule DOES NOT apply to resit work or to work submitted as a first attempt during a resit period.

Please be aware that there may be implications for your continued studies if you do not complete the required coursework or sit your exams.

What do I need to do now?

  • We advise you to read the First Attempt Information for assessment(s) that have been approved by extenuating circumstances and Resit Information regarding undertaking your resit assessments during the resit period.
  • It is your responsibility to contact your module leader about your assessment.

Information for International Students

Study Length May be Extended – As you have not yet successfully completed all the assessments assigned to you during your last period of study you may not have enough time on your current visa to complete your studies in the UK.
